At our meeting last night, we not only elected our officers for the next year starting at the beginning of July but the awards won at our District Convention last month where our Press Officer received the District’s “Scribe” award for his submissions to the District’s monthly newsletter. Our President, Lion Liz, along with Lion Jim put out 40 collecting boxes – with daffodil pins – around our area early in March. These have now been collected in and the money counted. The total by the 40 boxes was £743,36 which is now winging its way to Marie Curie.
Do not delay. We will be at Morrison’s Superstore, Little Clacton all this week selling tickets for our Easter Egg Hamper Draw. Three Magnificent Prizes. Come and get your tickets and help us to help others.
At our recent District Convention for Lions and Lionesses from all over East Anglia, our Press Officer, Lion Alan Mercer, received an award called the “Scribe” Trophy for his numerous and varied contributions to the District’s monthly newsletter, “Lions Roar” over the past year. Our meeting tomorrow night is a chance to try out some World War II food “delights”. Should be an interesting night but will they be tasty bites. It will not be a trip down Memory Lane for many of us but it will not hurt to be reminded what our parents or grandparents went through.
Our party is now back home after a busy weekend at the District Convention for East Anglia. It was a Great Weekend with lots of laughter and good friends. Over the next couple of days 10 of us are off to our East Anglian Convention in Peterborough. Should be a super weekend of Fun and Fellowship whilst having the chance to debate important issues. Looking forward to meeting our friends from other clubs around East Anglia.
Last week we spent two days collecting in Morrison’s Store at Waterglade Retail Park in Clacton on Sea and raised a magnificent £800. Well Done Team.
Our next Meeting is tomorrow night and it is time for our members to nominate the officers they wish to be heading up the Club in the coming year from 1st July. Be interesting to see how things pan out.
Our Little Piggies and the Pig Race Team went to Brightlingsea last Saturday to the Brightlingsea Community Centre to raise funds to repair their roof. Together they helped the Centre Trustees raise £1102 and everyone had a fun evening. Next Pig Race is on Friday 12th May at The Firs, Little Clacton for the local
