This week we are trying out the new normal with a meeting of our Trustees tonight via our ZOOM facility and on Wednesday rather than just a social get together via ZOOM, we will be holding a Business Meeting as we need to prepare for the coming Lions year even if we are not able
Following the receipt of a grant from Lions Multiple District Foundation for the UK, our Club topped up the grant and made four £300 donations last week, one to each of the Foodbanks covering Clacton, Harwich, Walton and Brightlingsea, incorporating three of the most deprived areas in the UK. We have supported the local foodbanks
Our Club has answered a recent request from Tendring Eldercare for help with funds for the aid they are giving to local people during the coronavirus crisis. A cheque for £250 was sent to them at the end of last week.
On Friday 6th and Saturday 7th March, members of our Club will be collecting on behalf of Marie Curie Cancer Care at Morrison’s Superstore, Centenary Way, Little Clacton. We had a very successful collection last year and hope to do well again this year to support this excellent charity.
This week our President, Lion Jim Godden, handed over a cheque for £600 to Duty Manager, Dan Woolfe, at our local Morrison’s in Little Clacton and their Community Champion Mercedes Dolby. We said farewell to Lion Brian Pammenter today at a very moving celebration of his life. With almost 39 years as a Lion, Brian was one of our longest serving members seeing as we have only been chartered for exactly 40 years. He was a Melvin Jones Fellow and had also been President. Always ready
